DOES READY EGG CONTAIN ANY CHEMICALS OR PRESERVATIVES?

Ready Egg liquid egg contains nothing other than Wave-pasteurized Free Range liquid egg, either whole or separated.
No chemicals or colourants are added and there are no preservatives.
Our cutting-edge pasteurization technology allows us to produce this product in this format.

WHAT IS WAVE-PASTEURIZATION?

Sanovo Wave Technology is a new liquid egg pasteurization technology producing extended shelf life measured in weeks as opposed to days while maintaining the functional properties of the egg.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF READY EGG?

The shelf life of Ready Egg is similar to that of many dairy products currently around 3-5 weeks unopened in your refrigerator. The product must be used within 3 days after opening.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE YOLKS THAT ARE NOT USED FOR YOUR READY EGG PRODUCTS?

Our breaking machines separate the whites from the egg yolks. The yolks that are kept separate are packaged in bulk and supplied to bakeries that make use of Free Range eggs in their baking products. Other than bakeries, we supply manufacturers of mayonnaise with the egg yolks, as well as quality ice cream manufacturers.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SHELLS?

We have found a use for every component of the egg even the shells from the eggs are crushed and supplied to our neighbour who uses it as a source of lime for compost. Nothing gets wasted at The Free Range Chicken Co.

WHY DO YOU USE PLASTIC BOTTLES?

HDPE bottles are resilient and unlikely to break, even on the roughest of roads. They are also fully recyclable. Just as is the case with conventional pulp egg packaging, it is ultimately left to the consumer to complete the recycling loop.

WHAT IS HDPE?

HDPE stands for high-density polyethylene. HDPE is commonly recycled, and has the number 2 as its recycling symbol.

CAN I FREEZE READY EGG?

Ready Egg WHITE is perfectly suitable for home freezing and can be kept frozen for up to 3 months before use just thaw out overnight in the fridge. Ready Egg WHOLE & YOLK are best used fresh.

PLASTIC BOTTLES VS REGULAR CARDBOARD PACKAGING?

Because shell eggs are fragile at the best of times, the packaging needs to be fairly bulky to protect the shells from breakage. The consequence is that the packaging costs of eggs in a shell are actually higher than the cost of packaging for liquid egg. The process of pulping the cardboard boxes uses a great deal more energy than the manufacturing of the HDPE plastic bottles. Not only is the risk of breakage vastly reduced with liquid egg, the bottle format is more compact, thereby reducing transportation costs as more bottles can be transported at once.

HOW DOES THE EGG GET IN TO THE BOTTLE?

Ready Egg is decanted into unlabeled bottles in our High Care filling room. The filled bottles are then rinsed to ensure that the bottles are clean before passing through a metal detector as part of our rigorous quality control protocols. There-after each bottle is labeled, including batch coding for traceability purposes.

WHY WOULD I BUY LIQUID EGG WHEN I CAN CONTINUE BUYING EGGS IN A SHELL?

Ready Egg is a convenient resilient format in which to purchase Free Range eggs no shells to contend with. Ready Egg WHITE contains pure egg white, no need to struggle with messy separation, 30ml conveniently equals one egg white.
Both Ready Egg WHITE is directed at the health conscious consumer who typically would struggle to find a use for the surplus egg yolks.
All Ready Egg products are Wave-pasteurized in our state of the art HACCP-accredited facility, ensuring that food safety does not need to be your concern.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO COOK WITH? HAS IT BEEN TESTED?

We have tested Ready Egg extensively, tried out numerous recipes from the simplest scrambled egg to a more complex quiche or souffle, all with perfect results.
